pastry matroyska

mama panettone, and her little darlings-

checkerboard cake, cherry apple pie, chocolate chip cookie, cupcake, nanaimo bar, and baby maccaron!

they need a clear glaze still, but they are going to hold all sorts of crafty items around my sewing bench

matryoshka!

little mothers with bright colours! how fantastic

done by Audrée Lapierre

I have seen these plain wooden ones before in art stores and not really been interested because the traditional painting I find a  little creepy. person inside of person inside of person.. mini ladies all stacked. But I find these beautiful and want to paint some myself, in a non traditional lady faced way, maybe store some craft stuff in them. inspiring!

Stereo covers

my stereo has protective covers that can be removed for just a different look, I guess. I normally don’t have the covers on, because they’re really ugly. So I decided to spruce things up a bit, by putting some fabric over top.

My original idea was to use my screen printing stuff to make some patterned fabric for them but at the moment my screens are all occupied with other things I didn’t want to wash off just yet.
Instead I found some scraps of fabric I bought from ikea for super cheap.
what I needed was a hot glue gun, razor knife, and scissors.

So first, I had to cut around the logo cause it was melted into place. I’m sure could have cut the logo right off, but I didn’t want to risk breaking the plastic.

next, I ripped off the silver fabric. it was just glued down very easy to remove.

then once both have been taken apart, I cut out two rectangles big enough to cover both shields.

when I started gluing I did it as if it was a canvas frame being stretched over, always go top bottom, side side. never top side, bottom side. it will get all warped and not fit tightly.

Last, I cut away any access fabric that may be in the way of the pins that hold the shield in place.

done!

this seriously took about 20 minutes to do!

Easter eggs

I ended up making those German Easter eggs I mentioned a little while ago.

paper mache around a balloon. Elementary school craft tricks sure helped me out.
