Spicy Pimm’s winter

20111106-074833.jpg

One part Pimm’s no. 1
3 parts spiced apple ginger beer

Apple cider would also probably be delicious. I really like the bite from the ginger though.

Maybe if you don’t have that delicious apple ginger beer, you could use spiced apple cider and put a large slice of ginger in the glass!

½ PART St-Germain
2 PARTS Bourbon or Straight Rye Whiskey
2 DASHES Angostura Bitters

METHOD: Stir ingredients in an old fashioned glass, add ice and stir again as if you are a revolutionary. Add an orange twist and think progressively as you sip this new twist on a classic. Vive La Résistance!

Shramm Gin

Shramm Gin arrived today from Pemberton distillery http://www.pembertondistillery.ca/

Beautiful bottle! Their vodka is delicious so I can only assume the same for the gin until I try it tonight after work! Can not wait! Very exciting

Lebkuchen vodka

fingers crossed that this will taste as good as I hope it will.

I just added enough ingredients until I thought it smelled right

roughly what I added to this 3 cup jar

4 tablespoons honey(directly in the jar)
2 small cinnamon sticks(directly in the jar)

the rest was in a pouch crafted from a coffee filter and cooking twine.
roughly 12 whole cloves
4 cardamon pods
1/4 whole nutmeg
1/4 lemon zest
(would have added a bit of orange zest aswell if I had any)
1/4 cup of almond flour
1/8 vanilla bean pod (split)

almost forgot the vanilla bean!

top up with vodka, I used potato vodka, for a less harsh bite.
let sit for 2-5 days, until the aroma is what you desire.

Happy Holidays! WINTER TIME IS ALMOST HERE

ginger bread house!
advent calender!

our baby Christmas tree

with POPCORN ON IT! favourite easy decorating

spiced rum is also very festive!

I put roughly 375ML of regular dark rum in a mason jar then added:
a few chunks of ginger root
some anise seed
half a stick of cinnamon
half of a nutmeg
half inch by 2 inch strip of orange peel

I screwed the lid on tight and  shook it really hard and kept it in the cool cupboard.

shaking it a few times a day, after the first day I removed the orange peel cause it was smelling a bit too orangy

then after the 3rd day I strained it with a piece of cheese cloth and poured it into a glass bottle with a cork top! yummy! and easy

BeerOmeter/ WineOmeter

Be prepared to shock your mates by showing them how much booze is in their favorite tipple.

According to health boffins, we should not exceed more than 3-4 units of the good stuff per day.
These quality glasses clearly display how much alcohol is your beer, lager or vino.

A great gift for anyone that “likes a few”.”
