backpack #4

I’m getting better at them I think

I didn’t line this one, having a head cold makes it difficult to sew, with my face pointing down at my sewing machines, for periods of time.

but came out good anyway!

between the blue and the buckle there is a strip of reflective ribbing. its so small though I don’t know if it is really helpful..

cloth basket

it’s Easter time! gift basket excuse is what I’d call it. I love making gift baskets. more so the buying of stuff to put in them, but this time  I literally made the gift basket.

on the left you cant really see but its one part of the bag sewn,  just sew those corners together, I just serged them.

now you need a cardboard base, cut to size, all I had was a beer box..

hot glue the corners and a line down the middle to the inside  bottom of the bag. I inverted my fabric and folded all the sides out of the way, less messy this way

glue two corners, then the line down the middle then the other two corners.

fold out the sides so the cardboard is on the bottom inside of the bag.

I discovered my fabric is transparent. so a piece of paper glued to the cardboard, worked like a charm

now put the second layer of the bag inside the bag with the rough seams touching.  Serge along all the edges, and then roll it down and sew over top. so you cant see any serging.

attatch handles if you want.

stuff with goodies!

I made a few variations of this bag following the same procedure.

best time ever

Lebkuchen vodka

fingers crossed that this will taste as good as I hope it will.

I just added enough ingredients until I thought it smelled right

roughly what I added to this 3 cup jar

4 tablespoons honey(directly in the jar)
2 small cinnamon sticks(directly in the jar)

the rest was in a pouch crafted from a coffee filter and cooking twine.
roughly 12 whole cloves
4 cardamon pods
1/4 whole nutmeg
1/4 lemon zest
(would have added a bit of orange zest aswell if I had any)
1/4 cup of almond flour
1/8 vanilla bean pod (split)

almost forgot the vanilla bean!

top up with vodka, I used potato vodka, for a less harsh bite.
let sit for 2-5 days, until the aroma is what you desire.

Quick

Love this! So simple, way better than a hook awkwardly placed on the ceiling.

purse

made a purse!!!

I was worried about my fabric not being weather proof, being I live in Vancouver, and it rains.

so I interfaced my fabric with some reusable liquor store bags that I’ve accumulated but never actually reuse!

patchworked them together.

I think it turned out pretty well

inside pocket too!
